This course is specially designed for advanced students of English composition, where the focus will be on higher-level skills pertaining to academic writing - as well as reading. In this course, you will learn how to formulate and develop a thesis; to develop structurally- and rhetorically-sound essays in a short period; to use various logical and rhetorical strategies in order to enhance written arguments; as well as how to use higher-level written idiomatic language prevalent in academic writing.

We will be covering the following topics: how to structure your sentences within a paragraph methodically and thoughtfully, how to focus your writing on a specific topic, how to formulate a thesis, how to organize your written language, how to check and revise your writing, and how to make the leap from paragraph to essay. The student's goal at the end of the semester is to produce a polished essay on the topic of his/her choice, with supervision and guidance at every major step.
