This course will provide an in-depth overview of the field of biological anthropology-especially the study of human biological variation and evolutionary mechanisms. We will employ evolutionary theory and the scientific method to investigate topics in human biological variation (ie., human genetics, human skeletal and dental morphology)and the environmental, cultural, and social factors that account for these differences. Furthermore, we will discuss the problems and history of the concept of “race” and gender issues. Also, we will discuss some of the major ethical issues in the field today.
